tert-Butyl pivaloyl phosphorous acid and some of its derivatives were synthesized.In contrast to the chlorophosphite derivatives, the esters and amides do not undergo disproportionation upon the action of electrophilic catalysts.This acid and its derivatives are cleaved hydrolytically under acid catalysis conditions at the phosphorous-acyl bond to give tert-butylphosphine oxide.The oxidation of tert-butyl pivaloyl phosphorous acid derivatives leads to the corresponding phosphonic acid derivatives, which are more stable relative to hydrolysis.
