It was shown that polyfluoro-substituted diarylpyrylium salts with an active CH group at position 2 of the pyrylium ring can be obtained by the reaction of chalcones p-XC6F4COCH=CHPh (where X = F, MeO) with acetoacetic ester or cyclohexanone in the presence of acids.The isomeric chalcone PhCOCH=CHC6H5 undergoes condensation under analogous conditions with the formation of cyclohexenone derivatives.
