It has been reported that pyrazole derivatives showed a broad spectrum of biological activity.The present work deals with the synthesis of ethyl(2-furoyl)pyruvate 1 as a key starting material to prepare some new pyrazole derivatives which might be expected biological activities.Compound 1 reacted with hydrazine hydrate, phenylhydrazine and diazotized amines and afforded the corresponding hydrazine amide 2 pyrazole carboxylate 3 and hydrazidoyl derivative 4 respectively.Compound 4 reacted with hydrazine hydrate and thiosemicarbazide and gave the corresponding hydrazine amide 5 and triazole thiol 6 which reacted in turn with hydrazine hydrate to give the corresponding 1,2,4-triazol-3-hydrazine derivative 7.Moreover, compound 1 underwent Mannich alkylation to give the pyruvate 8 which condensed with hydrazine hydrate and gave bis hydrazine amide 9.
