Usage

General Description

Rapamycin, 32-O-demethyl- is a derivative of the natural product rapamycin, which is produced by the bacterium Streptomyces hygroscopicus. It is a macrocyclic lactone compound that has been found to possess potent immunosuppressant and antiproliferative properties. Rapamycin, 32-O-demethyl- inhibits the activity of the protein complex mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin), which is involved in cell growth and proliferation. This makes it useful in the treatment of certain types of cancer, as well as in the prevention of organ transplant rejection. Additionally, it has also shown potential in the treatment of certain neurological disorders and aging-related conditions.
