Used in Nanocrystal Preparation:
Rhodium acetylacetonate, as an organic solvent-soluble source of rhodium metal ions, is used to prepare monodisperse size/shape controlled Rh nanocrystals. These nanocrystals have been reported to exhibit high activity for hydrogenation of vinylcyclohexene to selectively produce ethylcyclohexene. The size/shape controlled nanocrystals find a variety of applications in industries such as oil refining, chemical synthesis, and fuel cell technology.
Used in Hydrogenation of Carboxylic Acids:
Rhodium(III) 2,4-pentanedionate is also an effective catalyst for the hydrogenation of carboxylic acids when combined with group 6 or group 7 metal carbonyls. This application further expands its utility in the chemical industry for the production of various chemicals and materials.
