The synthesis of a series of novel acyclic analogues of lipid A, the lipophilic terminal of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), is reported.In these compounds, the reducing glucose unit of lipid A has been replaced by an acyclic analogue unit (abbreviated as AAU) c
