A method was developed for the production of 2-amino- and 2-methylamino-4-(o-hydroxyaryl)-1,3,5-triazines by the reaction of 4-oxo-1,3-benzoxazinium perchlorates and their naphtho analogs with guanidine and methylguanidine.The restricted rotation about the exocyclic C-N bond in 2-methylaminotriazines, due to its partial double-bond character, was studied by the dynamic 1H NMR method with quantum-chemical backing.
