Description
SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT, also known as a metabolite of Sirolimus and a decomposition product of Rapamycin (R124000), is a natural macrolide immunosuppressant that activates mTORC1. It is a nonenzyme-dependent degradation product of rapamycin, resulting from ester hydration followed by dehydration. SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT has less than 4% of the potency of rapamycin in a thymocyte proliferation assay. It is a yellow solid that quickly degrades to two ring-opened products, including itself, in the cytoplasm or in homogenates of Caco-2 cells. Like rapamycin, SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT is secreted from cells by P-glycoprotein and metabolized to a common dihydro species. Although it poorly activates mTOR, it mimics rapamycin in its ability to inhibit the proteasome.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT is used as an immunosuppressive agent for its ability to activate mTORC1 and inhibit the proteasome. Its lower potency compared to rapamycin makes it a potential candidate for specific applications where a less potent immunosuppressive effect is desired.
Used in Research and Development:
SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT is used as a research compound for studying the mechanisms of action and potential applications of rapamycin and its degradation products. Its unique properties, such as poor activation of mTOR and inhibition of the proteasome, make it an interesting subject for further investigation in various biological and medical research fields.
Used in Drug Metabolism Studies:
SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT is used as a model compound in drug metabolism studies to understand the degradation pathways of rapamycin and its impact on cellular processes. This knowledge can be applied to improve the design and efficacy of immunosuppressive drugs and other therapeutic agents.
Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
Similar to gallotannin, SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT could potentially be used in novel drug delivery systems to enhance its applications and efficacy against specific targets. Various organic and metallic nanoparticles could be employed as carriers for SECO RAPAMYCIN SODIUM SALT delivery, aiming to improve its delivery, bioavailability, and therapeutic outcomes in targeted applications.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 148554-65-8 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,4,8,5,5 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 148554-65:
(8*1)+(7*4)+(6*8)+(5*5)+(4*5)+(3*4)+(2*6)+(1*5)=158
158 % 10 = 8
So 148554-65-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
