Compounds sMesMX2 (sMes = 2,4,6-t-BuC6H2; X = Cl, Br; M = Ga, In) were prepared from MX3 and sMesLi. X-ray structure determinations prove that this species are the first gallium and indium dihalides which are monomeric even in the solid state.
