Usage

General Description

3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-methoxytoluene, also known as BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), is a synthetic antioxidant commonly added to food, personal care products, and pharmaceuticals to prevent spoilage and rancidity. It is also used as a chemical stabilizer in industrial materials and fuels. BHT is a white crystalline solid that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.
