The reaction of Q- (Q- = 2-furyl, 2-thienyl, 2-pyridinethiolato) with Ph3EAuCl (E = P, As) afforded Ph3EAuQ derivatives. When Q- - = 2-pyridinethiolato, 3(5),4-dimethyl-5(3)-ethylpyrazolato or 3,5-di-tert-butylpyrazolato> were reacted with (CH3)2SAuCl, oligomeric species n were obtained. A mass spectrometric investigation has been carried out on all the compounds; the species (Ph3EAu)+, + and + were detected, and the pyrazolato derivatives resulted to be a mixture of two oligonuclear compounds, one being trinuclear and the other tetranuclear.
