Synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-thiadiazole and 1,5-disubstituted-2-mercapto-1,3,4-triazole derivatives as potential antimicrobial agents

2(1H)-Quinoxalinon-1-yl-acetyl hydrazine and its thiosemicarbazides have been synthesised.The latter on chemoselective heterocyclization with conc.H2SO4 and NaOH seperately afforded 2-arylamino-5-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (III) and 1-N-aryl-2-mercapto-5-1,3,4-triazoles (IV) respectively.These compounds along with their derivatives have been screened for their antimicrobial activity.
