General Description

Silicic acid, sodium salt, also known as sodium metasilicate, is a chemical compound with the formula Na2SiO3. It is a white, granular or powdered solid that is highly soluble in water. Sodium metasilicate is commonly used as a cleaning and degreasing agent, as well as a corrosion inhibitor in metal surface treatments. It is also used in the manufacturing of soaps and detergents, as well as in the production of ceramics and as a builder in some laundry detergents. Additionally, it is used in some dental applications as a cleaning and disinfecting agent. Sodium metasilicate has a strong alkaline nature and should be handled with care to avoid skin and eye irritation.
