16071-86-6 Usage

Description

Direct Brown 95 is a technical grade azo dye, characterized by its dark brown microcrystals or charcoal black powder appearance. It is known for its light brown color and is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in acetone. This dye exhibits properties such as acid resistance, alkali resistance, light fastness, and soaping, making it suitable for various applications in the textile industry and beyond.

Uses

Used in Textile Industry:
Direct Brown 95 is used as a dye for PET/cotton blended fabrics and other textiles. It offers good dye uptake and exhaustion properties, with the highest affinity for dyeing cellulose fibers at 100°C. The dye also demonstrates good discharge properties and is primarily used in viscose and their blended fabric dyeing and printing.
Additionally, Direct Brown 95 can be used for dyeing and printing knit fabrics, blankets, silk, and polyamide fiber fabrics. Its application in this industry is facilitated by its resistance to acids and alkalis, as well as its light fastness and soaping properties.
Used in Environmental Testing:
As an environmental reproductive toxin and a listed environmental toxin on the US EPA Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Direct Brown 95 is also utilized in environmental testing. This involves assessing the impact of the dye and its metabolites on the environment, ensuring that its use in various industries does not lead to significant ecological harm.
Used in Leather, Paper, and Plastic Coloration:
Beyond the textile industry, Direct Brown 95 can also be used in the coloring of leather, paper, and plastic materials. Its properties, such as acid resistance and alkali resistance, make it a suitable choice for these applications, where colorfastness and durability are essential.

Preparation

4-(4-Aminophenyl)benzenamine double nitriding, first coupled with 2-Hydroxybenzoic acid, and then and 3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid?diazo, and Resorcinol coupling, in the form of complex copper a * single accidentally coupled nitrogen compounds.

Air & Water Reactions

Azo dyes can be explosive when suspended in air at specific concentrations. Slightly water soluble.

Reactivity Profile

Direct Brown 95 is an azo compound. Toxic gases are formed by mixing azo compounds with acids, aldehydes, amides, carbamates, cyanides, inorganic fluorides, halogenated organics, isocyanates, ketones, metals, nitrides, peroxides, phenols, epoxides, acyl halides, and strong oxidizing or reducing agents. Flammable gases are formed by mixing materials in this group with alkali metals. Explosive combination can occur with strong oxidizing agents, metal salts, peroxides, and sulfides.

Fire Hazard

Flash point data for Direct Brown 95 are not available; however, Direct Brown 95 is probably combustible.

Safety Profile

Low toxicity by ingestion. Suspected carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic and neoplastigenic data. Mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Na2O, SOx and NOx.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 16071-86-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,6,0,7 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 16071-86:
(7*1)+(6*6)+(5*0)+(4*7)+(3*1)+(2*8)+(1*6)=96
96 % 10 = 6
So 16071-86-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
