Macrocyclic quadridentate organic schiff base ligands (22-membered) have been synthesized and their macrocyclic complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) are isolated. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic measurements, X-ray diffraction, reflectance and IR spectral studies. The X-ray diffraction studies show the number of molecules per unit cell n=6, which is same for both macrocyclic ligands and their complexes indicating that metal atom is inside the macrocyclic structure and coordinated by N2N2 sites which is supported by IR spectral data. The magnetic measurements show tetrahedral structure of the complexes.
