16503-32-5 Usage
Description
Brevilin A is a primary reference substance with assigned absolute purity, which is determined by considering chromatographic purity, water, residual solvents, and inorganic impurities. It is produced by PhytoLab GmbH & Co. KG and can be used for selective extraction to obtain natural substances and for preparing derivatives for anti-cancer activity.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Brevilin A is used as a reference substance for the development and standardization of natural products and their derivatives. Its high purity makes it a valuable tool for researchers and manufacturers in the pharmaceutical industry.
Used in Cancer Research:
Brevilin A is used as a starting material for the preparation of derivatives with potential anti-cancer activity. These derivatives can be further studied and developed for their therapeutic potential against various types of cancer.
Used in Natural Product Extraction:
Brevilin A can be selectively extracted from natural sources to obtain pure and concentrated forms of the substance. This selective extraction method is useful for obtaining natural substances for research and commercial applications.
Enzyme inhibitor
This naturally occurring sesquiterpenoid (FW = 346.40 g/mol; CAS 16503- 32-5) from the volatile oils of the plant Centipeda minima inhibits (IC50 = 10 μg/mL) STAT3 phosphorylation in the Jak/STAT signal transduction pathway of A549R cells. Brevilin A showed high specificity on Janus Kinase activity and following STAT3 signaling without directly affecting some other signals, including p65, AKT and GSK-3β phosphorylation, as well as Src kinase activity. Brevilin A is also an antibiotic with activity against Giardia (IC50 = 16 μM) and Entamoeba histolitica (IC50 = 4–9 μM).
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 16503-32-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,6,5,0 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 16503-32:
(7*1)+(6*6)+(5*5)+(4*0)+(3*3)+(2*3)+(1*2)=85
85 % 10 = 5
So 16503-32-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
