176504-36-2 Usage
Description
Bisindolylmaleimide I Hydrochloride (BIM I) is a potent, cell-permeable, and reversible inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC) with high selectivity for various PKC isozymes. It is structurally similar to the less selective PKC inhibitor staurosporine. BIM I also directly inhibits glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) and competitively antagonizes the serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtype 5-HT3.
Uses
Used in Cellular and Molecular Research:
Bisindolylmaleimide I Hydrochloride is used as a research tool for studying the role of PKC in cellular processes and signaling pathways. Its high selectivity for different PKC isozymes makes it a valuable compound for investigating the specific functions of each isozyme in various cellular responses.
Used in Pharmaceutical Development:
BIM I is used as a lead compound in the development of new drugs targeting PKC and GSK3, which are involved in various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and inflammatory conditions.
Used in Anticancer Applications:
Bisindolylmaleimide I Hydrochloride is used as an anticancer agent, potentially targeting PKC and GSK3 pathways that are often dysregulated in cancer cells. By inhibiting these pathways, BIM I may help in the development of novel therapeutic strategies against cancer.
Used in Neurodegenerative Disease Research:
BIM I is used as a research tool to investigate the role of PKC and GSK3 in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Understanding the involvement of these kinases in disease pathology can lead to the development of targeted therapies for these conditions.
Used in Inflammatory Disease Research:
Bisindolylmaleimide I Hydrochloride is used as a research tool to study the role of PKC in inflammatory processes. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a potential candidate for investigating the underlying mechanisms of various inflammatory diseases and the development of targeted treatments.
Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
To enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic outcomes of BIM I, researchers may develop novel drug delivery systems, such as nanoparticles or other carriers, to improve its delivery to target cells and tissues.
Biochem/physiol Actions

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 176504-36-2 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,7,6,5,0 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 176504-36:
(8*1)+(7*7)+(6*6)+(5*5)+(4*0)+(3*4)+(2*3)+(1*6)=142
142 % 10 = 2
So 176504-36-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
