Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17741-86-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,7,4 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17741-86:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*4)+(3*1)+(2*8)+(1*6)=125
125 % 10 = 5
So 17741-86-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effect of pH and NaOAc-buffer Concentration on the Rate of the hydrolytic decomposition of N,N'-bis(methoxymethyl)urea

Toivonen, Hannu,Bjoerkqvist, Boerje

, p. 563 - 566 (2007/10/02)

The stabilty of N,N'-bis(methoxymethyl)urea in aqueous 0.053 M NaOAc solution at 50 deg C was studied. The rate of hydrolysis varied with the pH of the solution, the maximum stability being around pH 8.The hydrolysis reaction was found to be catalyzed not only by H1+ and 1-OH but also by the undissociated acid when NaOAc was used as buffer.
