Refluxing Oxazepam (1) and Lorazepam (2), resp., with ethanolic NaOH, followed by acid hydrolysis affords the 1,3-diamines 5 and 6. Cyclocondensation with phthalaldehyde (11a) and analogues 11b-e leads to fluorescent compounds of type 14 and 16. On the basis of these investigations a high specific TLC-fluorescence detection of Oxazepam (1) and Lorazepam is developed.
