Uses
Rubreserine is a decomposition product of physostigmine (P398500), a parasympathomimetic. Rubreserine inhibits p-aminobenzote and folate synthesis in plants and apicomplexan parasites.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 18455-27-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,4,5 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18455-27:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*4)+(4*5)+(3*5)+(2*2)+(1*7)=121
121 % 10 = 1
So 18455-27-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Hydrolysis of the carbamate side chains in phenserine [(-)1] and physostigmine [(-)2] yields the metabolite (-)-eseroline (3), and the red dye rubreserine (4) on air oxidation of the former compound. Both compounds lacked anticholinesterase activity in co
