Synthesis and Properties of Peroxy Alcohols of the Carborane Series

A method is proposed for preparing 1-(3-methyl-3-tert-alkylperoxy-1-butynyl)-1-phenyl-1-m-carboranylmethanols by reaction of the corresponding lithium peroxyacetylides with 1-benzoyl-m-carborane. The thermal stability of the products is studied by thermal analysis, and the activation energies of the first stage of thermal decomposition are calculated.
