Description

Benzo[c][1,3]benzodioxolo[5,6-g]azecin-14(6H)-one,5,7,8,15-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-methylis an alkaloid derived from Thalictrum simplex, found in the phenolic fraction of the alkaloidal extract. It forms colorless crystals from MeOH and exhibits a single absorption maximum at 288 mil in its ultraviolet spectrum. Benzo[c][1,3]benzodioxolo[5,6-g]azecin-14(6H)-one,5,7,8,15-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-methylis optically inactive and upon methylation with CH2N2, it yields a-allocryptopine with a melting point of 164-5°C. Mass spectrometry analysis reveals a typical cryptopine fragmentation pattern.
