Description
Guanadrel sulfate (200 MG) is a postganglionic adrenergic blocking agent that was formerly used for the management of hypertension. It is chemically known as (1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]dec-2-ylmethyl)guanadine sulfate and is similar to guanethidine monosulfate in its mechanism of action. Guanadrel sulfate works by displacing norepinephrine in adrenergic neuron storage granules, thereby preventing the release of the endogenous neurotransmitter upon nerve stimulation. It has a shorter half-life (10 hours) compared to guanethidine monosulfate, which has a half-life measured in days. The brand name for guanadrel sulfate is Hylorel, produced by Pharmacia & Upjohn.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Guanadrel sulfate (200 MG) is used as an antihypertensive agent for the treatment of hypertension. It acts as a postganglionic sympathetic inhibitor, reducing elevated blood pressure by preventing the release of norepinephrine upon nerve stimulation. In the stepped-care approach to hypertension, guanadrel sulfate is typically a step 2 agent.
Please note that guanadrel sulfate has been largely superseded by other drugs that are less likely to cause orthostatic hypotension (dizzy spells on standing up or stretching).
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 22195-34-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,2,1,9 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 22195-34:
(7*2)+(6*2)+(5*1)+(4*9)+(3*5)+(2*3)+(1*4)=92
92 % 10 = 2
So 22195-34-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
