Description
Hydroxocobalamin acetate is a physiological analog of vitamin B12, where the CN group is replaced with OH. It exists in aqueous solution as an equilibrium mixture of the hydroxy isomer and the ionic aqua isomer (aquacobalamin). Hydroxocobalamin acetate serves as a precursor to the coenzymes methylcobalamin and cobamamide and is a coordination compound with vitamin (hematopoietic) properties. It is a dark red, crystalline powder or dark red crystals, and is very hygroscopic.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Hydroxocobalamin acetate is used as a pharmaceutical compound for its role as a precursor to essential coenzymes, methylcobalamin and cobamamide. These coenzymes play a vital role in various biological processes, including the synthesis of nucleic acids and the regulation of the nervous system.
Used in Nutritional Supplements:
As a vitamin B12 analog, hydroxocobalamin acetate is used in the formulation of nutritional supplements to support hematopoiesis (blood cell formation) and maintain overall health.
Used in Coordination Chemistry:
Hydroxocobalamin acetate is utilized as a coordination compound in the field of coordination chemistry, where it can form complexes with various metal ions, contributing to the study and development of new materials and catalysts.
Used in Research and Development:
Due to its unique chemical properties and structural similarities to vitamin B12, hydroxocobalamin acetate is employed in research and development for the investigation of novel applications in medicine, biochemistry, and material science.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Vitamin B12 cobalamin is involved in DNA synthesis and fatty acid synthesis. It also plays a vital role as a coenzyme in the conversion of mitochondrial methylmalonyl co-enzyme A to succinyl co-enzyme A. Vitamin B12 cobalamin is also involved in neurotransmitter synthesis and erythropoiesis. It also functions in the synthesis and maintenance of myelin sheath. Hydroxocobalamin (vitamin B12a, OHCbl) and cyanocobalamin (CNCbl) are storage and delivery forms.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 22465-48-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,2,4,6 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 22465-48:
(7*2)+(6*2)+(5*4)+(4*6)+(3*5)+(2*4)+(1*8)=101
101 % 10 = 1
So 22465-48-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
