22796-40-3 Usage
General Description
4-(trichloromethyl)pyridine, also known as TFM, is a chemical compound used as an insecticide and piscicide. It is often employed to control and eradicate unwanted fish populations in bodies of water, such as lakes and reservoirs, as well as to control insect pests. TFM acts by disrupting the nervous system of target organisms, leading to paralysis and ultimately death. Despite its effectiveness in controlling pest populations, TFM is highly toxic to aquatic organisms, and great care must be taken to minimize its impact on non-target species and the environment. Due to its potential for harm, TFM is strictly regulated and must be used in accordance with local laws and regulations.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 22796-40-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,2,7,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 22796-40:
(7*2)+(6*2)+(5*7)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*4)+(1*0)=123
123 % 10 = 3
So 22796-40-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of Tripyridiniumylpropenyl Anions from Tripyridiniumylcyclopropanes and -cyclopropenes
Crispino, Gerard A.,Breslow, Ronald
, p. 1849 - 1855 (2007/10/02)
The syntheses of three stable, isolatable tripyridiniumylpropenyl anions are described. 1,2,3-Tris(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))propenyl anion and 1-(benzenesulfonyl)-1,2,3-tris(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))propenyl anion were prepared by treating the corresponding cyclopropane with a base. 1,3-Bis(benzenesulfonyl)-1,2,3-tris(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))propenyl anion was prepared by nucleophilic attack of benzenesulfinate anion on 3-(benzenesulfonyl)-1,2,3-tris(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))cyclopropene.Reduction of this cyclopropene gave either 1-(benzenesulfonyl)-1,2,3-tris(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))propenyl anion or hexakis(4-(N-methylpyridiniumyl))benzene depending on the solvent used.
