23918-98-1 Usage
Description
4-(9-ADENYL)-D-ERYTHRO-2,3-DIHYDROXYBUTYRIC ACID, also known as Eritadenine, is an alkaloid with the empirical formula C9H11N504. It is the D-Erythro-form of the base and appears as a pale yellow solid. Eritadenine has melting points recorded at 279°C (dec.) by Kamiya et al and 261-263°C (dec.) by Chibata and his colleagues. The alkaloid exhibits specific rotations of [α]D+ 16° (N-HCl) and [α]D + 50° (0.1 N-NaOH). Its ultraviolet spectrum in H2O has a single absorption maximum at 261.5 nm, which shifts to 259.5 nm in N-HCl and 262 nm in N-NaOH. Eritadenine can form a methyl ester with a melting point of 231°C (dec.) and a diacetate with a melting point of 225°C (dec.).
Uses
Used in Hypocholesterolemic Applications:
Eritadenine is used as a hypocholesterolemic agent, isolated from shiitake mushrooms, and affects phospholipid and linoleic acid metabolisms. It is a potent inhibitor of S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine hydrolase (SAHH), which helps in decreasing total cholesterol levels in plasma.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 23918-98-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,3,9,1 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 23918-98:
(7*2)+(6*3)+(5*9)+(4*1)+(3*8)+(2*9)+(1*8)=131
131 % 10 = 1
So 23918-98-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
