A series of constitutional isomers containing dinuclear gold(I) units were designed, synthesized and characterized using IR spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics of the complexes were investigated by photoluminescence (PL) and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The results indicated that gold(I) complexes 1-3 exhibited significant AIE phenomena. PL spectroscopy, used to probe their solid-state mechanochromic properties, suggested ortho-isomer luminogen 1 exhibited reversible mechanochromic fluorescence, whereas meta-isomer luminogen 2 showed switchable mechanical force-induced luminescence enhancement behavior. No mechanochromism behavior was observed for para-isomer luminogen 3. Powder X-ray diffraction indicated that the morphology phase conversion between crystalline and amorphous states is responsible for the mechanochromism or mechanical force-induced emission enhancement characteristics.

A novel [1+1] Schiff-base macrocyclic compound 3 has been synthesized from precursor 1, 1,3-bis(2′-formylphenoxy)-2-propanol, and precursor 2, resorcinol-bis(4-aminophenyl)ether, via condensation and cyclizaction using Ba2+ as template. The macrocycle 3 was further reduced giving saturated macrocycle 4. The structures of 3 and 4 were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, IR, and MS spectra, and their structures were determined via single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the macrocyclic compound 3 has a folded conformation, and the corresponding reduced product 4 adopts a twisted and folded conformation due to its flexible nature.

A thermoplastic polyimide having good thermal stability, comprising a repeating unit represented by the chemical formula (1), a molecular terminal being composed of the chemical formula (2) and/or chemical formula (3), characterized in that:a melt viscosity ratio calculated by the numerical formula (1) and/or the numerical formula (3) is within a numerical range shown in the numerical formula (2) and/or the numerical formula (4) and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzene represented by the chemical formula (3) for production of the above polyimide, characterized in that the content of an azo compound is from 0.0 to 0.2%. The thermoplastic polyimide of the present invention has excellent characteristics 1○ to 4○ described below. 1○ It is superior in thermal stability on melting. That is, the degree of lowering of the fluidity on melting with a lapse of time is small and it is possible to apply to conventional melt molding. 2○ It has high heat resistance.3○ It is superior in productivity. 4○ It is superior in dimensional accuracy.
