Description
Hafnium Nitride is a yellowish-brown crystalline compound with a face-centered cubic (fcc) structure and a lattice constant of 0.4518 nm. It is recognized as the most refractory of all known metal nitrides, exhibiting a hardness of 1640 kgf/mm2 and an electrical resistivity of 33 μohm·cm. HAFNIUM NITRIDE can be synthesized by heating hafnium in nitrogen or ammonia atmosphere at temperatures ranging from 1000°C to 1500°C, or by reacting hafnium tetrachloride vapor with nitrogen in a hydrogen atmosphere at temperatures above 1000°C.
Uses
1. Used in Electronics Industry:
Hafnium Nitride is used as a sputtering target for increasing the electrical stability of diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits. Its high refractory nature and electrical properties make it a valuable material in the electronics industry.
2. Used in Tool Manufacturing:
Hafnium Nitride is used as a coating material for steel grade, cemented carbide, and cutting tools. The deposition of a thin layer of hafnium nitride on these tools reduces frictional forces and wear, thereby increasing the life of the tool by a factor of 6–8. This application is particularly useful in the manufacturing and machining industries, where tool longevity and performance are crucial.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 25817-87-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,5,8,1 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 25817-87:
(7*2)+(6*5)+(5*8)+(4*1)+(3*7)+(2*8)+(1*7)=132
132 % 10 = 2
So 25817-87-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
