26645-35-2 Usage

Description

Phallacidin is a natural mycotoxin first isolated from the death cap mushroom, Amanita phalloides. It is a weak fluorescent bicyclic peptide probe in aqueous solution that binds to filamentous actin (F-actin) like phalloidin, but contains a carboxyl group for coupling reactions. This unique property allows it to be used in various applications, particularly in the field of cell biology and biochemistry.

Uses

Used in Cell Biology Research:
Phallacidin is used as a probe for studying the dynamics and organization of the cytoskeleton, specifically the actin filaments. Its ability to bind F-actin helps researchers visualize and analyze the structure and function of the cytoskeleton in various cell types.
Used in Biochemistry:
Phallacidin is used as a tool in biochemical studies to investigate the interactions between actin and other proteins or molecules. Its binding to F-actin allows researchers to explore the mechanisms of actin polymerization and depolymerization, as well as the role of actin in various cellular processes.
Used in Drug Development:
Phallacidin is used as a lead compound in the development of new drugs targeting the cytoskeleton and related cellular processes. Its ability to bind F-actin and promote actin polymerization makes it a potential candidate for the treatment of diseases associated with cytoskeletal dysfunction.
Used in Diagnostics:
Phallacidin is used as a diagnostic tool in the detection and analysis of cytoskeletal abnormalities in various diseases, such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Its binding to F-actin enables the visualization of actin filaments, aiding in the identification of abnormal cytoskeletal structures.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phallacidin, which is a bicyclic toxin from the Amanita phalloides mushroom, has been shown to inhibit F-actin degradation by proteolytic enzymes including trypsin and α-chymotrypsin.

Enzyme inhibitor

This cyclic heptapeptide toxin (FWfree-acid = 846.92 g/mol; CAS 26645-35-2) from the poisonous green fungus Amanita phalloides stabilizes actin filaments and inhibits actin filament depolymerization. NBD phallacidin is a high-affinity, filamentous actin probe consisting of rabbit actin that is conjugated by reacting its thiol group with 4-chloro-7- nitrobenzofurazan, a yellow-green fluorescent dye. NBD phallacidin (Excitation at 465 nm; Emission at 536 nm) selectively stains F-actin un a manner that is superior to antibody staining, preferably in fixed and permeabilized samples. See Phalloidin

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 26645-35-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,6,6,4 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 26645-35:
(7*2)+(6*6)+(5*6)+(4*4)+(3*5)+(2*3)+(1*5)=122
122 % 10 = 2
So 26645-35-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
