Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 283-68-1 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 2,8 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 283-68:
(5*2)+(4*8)+(3*3)+(2*6)+(1*8)=71
71 % 10 = 1
So 283-68-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Catalytic Hydrogenation of Paracyclophane. Unsaturated Intermediates

Lin, Shaw-Tao,Wharry, Donald L.,Yates, Robert L.,Garti, Nissim,Pranata, Julianto,et al.

, p. 7056 - 7060 (2007/10/02)

The catalytic hydrogenation of paracyclophane (1) was repeated to determine whether the claim that 1 yields an octahydroparacyclophane (2) which contains a 1,4-cyclohexadienic structural unit can be substantiated.Decahydroparacyclophane and three isomeric dienes (I-III), as well as perhydroparacyclophane, are isolated. The NMR spectra (1H and 13C) of the dienes are inconsistent with the earlier proposal, and the failure of the dienes to be aromatized by treatment with DDQ indicates that the trisubstituted double bonds reside in different six-membered rings.Computations of conformational energies aid the assignment of structures to the dienes.
