2,6,6-Trimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]hept-2-ene-1-thiol, also often associated under the name of thiol, is an organic compound which is a member of the class of compounds known as sesquiterpenoids. These are terpenes with three consecutive isoprene units. It's a complex compound and represents an odorant belonging to the sulfur chemicals class. This particular chemical is best known for its powerful odor that is often compared to grapefruit, hence it is commonly utilized in the flavor and fragrance industry. Its molecular formula is C10H16S, and it's a colorless to pale yellow liquid existing naturally, but can also be synthesized chemically.
