General Description
(Perfluorocyclohexyl)methanol is a synthetic compound characterized by the presence of a fluorine atom completely replacing all its hydrogen atoms. (PERFLUOROCYCLOHEXYL)METHANOL belongs to the group of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) which are recognized for their unique chemico-physical properties, including strong carbon-fluorine bonds, high stability, hydrophobic and lipophobic properties, and non-reactiveness. Given these features, perfluorinated compounds, including (perfluorocyclohexyl)methanol, find extensive applications in various industries. However, due to their non-degradability and persistency in the environment, they can pose substantial risk to human health and environment if mismanaged or in case of exposure.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 28788-68-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,8,7,8 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 28788-68:
(7*2)+(6*8)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*8)+(2*6)+(1*8)=173
173 % 10 = 3
So 28788-68-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Process for hydroxyalkylation of fluorinated alcohols
-
, (2008/06/13)
Mono O-hydroxyalkylated derivatives of 1,1-dihydroperfluorinated or 1H,1-alkylperfluorinated alcohols are prepared by reacting the alcohols with alkylene carbonates at a temperature of at least 60° C. in the presence of a one- or two-part catalyst. The catalyst is a nitrogenous base, optionally in combination with a tetraalkylammonium halide. The O-hydroxyalkylated derivatives are useful non-ionic surfactants and emulsifiable compounds for fire extinguishing systems.
