The invention includes inserting into the genome a nucleotide encoding a heterobifunctional compound targeting protein (dTAG) in-frame with the nucleotide sequence of a gene encoding an endogenously expressed protein of interest which, upon expression, produces an endogenous protein-dTAG hybrid protein.
