3084-48-8 Usage

General Description

Trihexylphosphine oxide is a phosphine oxide compound with the chemical formula C18H39OP. It is a clear to slightly yellow liquid with a slightly floral odor and is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents. Trihexylphosphine oxide is primarily used as a solvent extraction agent in separations involving transition metals, such as the extraction of nickel and copper from aqueous sulfate solutions. It is also used as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis reactions. Additionally, trihexylphosphine oxide is used as an additive in some formulations to improve the thermal and oxidative stability of polymers and lubricants. It is considered to have low acute toxicity, but precaution should be taken when handling it due to its potential for skin and eye irritation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 3084-48-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,0,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3084-48:
(6*3)+(5*0)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*4)+(1*8)=78
78 % 10 = 8
So 3084-48-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The influence of the sacrificial anode nature on the mechanism of electrochemical arylation and alkylation of white phosphorus

Yakhvarov,Budnikova,Tazeev,Sinyashin

, p. 2059 - 2064 (2002)

The material of the sacrificial anode has a substantial effect on the nature and yield of the target products of electrochemical phosphorylation of organic halides by white phosphorus in the presence of the nickel complexes with 2,2′-bipyridine. The use of the zinc anode results in the products with tricoordinated phosphorus, viz., triorganylphosphines, the reaction on the aluminum anode affords triorganylphosphine oxides, and the presence of Mg 2+ ions in the reaction mixture provides the transformation of white phosphorus into cyclic phosphines (PhP)5.

The Michaelis-Becker reaction in phosphonium and imidazolium ionic liquids

scheme or table, p. 1845 - 1849 (2010/11/02)

The Michaelis-Becker reaction was performed in imidazolium ionic liquids using sodium hydroxide as base or sodium dialkylphosphites with good yield and selectivities. The analogous reaction performed in phosphonium ionic liquids resulted in decomposition to phosphine oxides. Copyright
