3147-14-6 Usage
Description
CALMAGITE is a dark brown crystalline powder that is widely used in analytical chemistry as an indicator in the titration of calcium or magnesium with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). It is also useful in the determination of magnesium in biological materials.
Uses
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
CALMAGITE is used as an indicator in the titration of calcium or magnesium with EDTA for accurate determination of these elements.
Used in Biological Research:
CALMAGITE is used for the determination of magnesium in biological materials, which is essential for various physiological processes.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
CALMAGITE is used as a reagent in the pharmaceutical industry for the analysis and quality control of drugs containing calcium or magnesium.
Purification Methods
A crude dye is extracted with anhydrous diethyl ether and forms red crystals from Me2CO. It gives a red colour in H2O at pH 7—9 and a blue colour at pH 9—11 which turns red on addition of Ca2+ or Mg2+ ions. [Lindstrom & Diehl Anal Chem 32 1123 1960]. Complexes with Ca, Mg and Th.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3147-14-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,1,4 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3147-14:
(6*3)+(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*7)+(2*1)+(1*4)=66
66 % 10 = 6
So 3147-14-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
