Usage

General Description

3,9-DIMETHYLBENZ[A]ANTHRACENE, also known as DMBA, is a highly carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) that is commonly used in laboratory studies as a potent carcinogen and as a model compound for inducing tumors in animals. It is primarily found in coal tar and coal tar products, and is a known environmental pollutant. DMBA is classified as a Group 3 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), meaning it is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans. Exposure to 3,9-DIMETHYLBENZO[A]ANTHRACENE has been linked to an increased risk of developing skin cancer and other types of tumors. Therefore, strict occupational and environmental regulations have been put in place to limit human exposure to this hazardous chemical.
