Tripod ligands of the type RSi(OCH2EMe2)3 (R = Me, Ph; E = P, As) (compounds 3a, b and 4a, b) have been prepared by reacting RSiCl3 with Me2ECH2OH (2a, b) in the presence of NMe3. 2a, b are obtained from Me2EH (1a, b) and paraformaldehyde.Replacement of the cycloheptatriene ligand in M(CO)3CHT compounds (M = Cr, Mo, W) yields the new complexes fac-M(CO)3 (5a, b - 10a, b).The ligand properties of 3a, b and 4a, b have been studied by determining the effects of coordination on the spectroscopic data (νCO, 1H, 31P NMR). - Keywords: Tripod Phosphane and Arsane Ligands, fac-M(CO)3L Complexes ( M = Cr, Mo, W); Spectroscopic Data (νCO, 1H-, 31P-NMR)
