Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 36235-42-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,6,2,3 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 36235-42:
(7*3)+(6*6)+(5*2)+(4*3)+(3*5)+(2*4)+(1*2)=104
104 % 10 = 4
So 36235-42-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

(3,3,5,5-Tetranitropiperidin-1-yl)acetic acid: Precursor for 1,3,3,5,5-pentanitropiperidine
Singh, Rajendra P.,Shreeve, Jeanne M.
, p. 731 - 734 (2012)
(3,3,5,5-Tetranitropiperidin-1-yl)acetic acid is a novel and economical precursor for 1,3,3,5,5-pentanitropiperidine. Treatment of 2,2-dinitropropane-1, 3-diol with glycine in water at 65-70C for five hours gave (3,3,5,5- tetranitropiperidin-1-yl)acetic acid in 52% isolated yield. Nitration of the latter in a mixture of 100% nitric acid and trifluoroacetic anhydride for 12 hours gave 1,3,3,5,5-pentanitropiperidine in essentially quantitative yield. (3,3,5,5-Tetranitropiperidin-1-yl)acetic acid and 1,3,3,5,5-pentanitropiperidine were fully characterized by means of IR and NMR (1H, 13C, and 15N) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and elemental analysis.
