363-23-5 Usage
Description
13,14-Dihydro-15-keto Prostaglandin E2 (13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGE2) is a metabolite of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and the primary PGE2 metabolite found in plasma. It is formed from PGE2 through a 15-keto PGE2 intermediate by the action of 15-oxo-PG Δ13 reductase. Unlike PGE2, 13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGE2 does not effectively bind to the PGE2 receptors EP2 and EP4 expressed in CHO cells or induce adenylate cyclase activity in the same cells. This metabolite has been observed to have increased levels in the plasma of women in the third trimester of pregnancy and during and immediately after labor and delivery. Additionally, its levels are found to be decreased in tumor tissue compared to adjacent non-cancerous tissue in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
13,14-Dihydro-15-keto PGE2 is used as a research compound for understanding the metabolic pathways and biological functions of PGE2. Its unique properties, such as not binding effectively to PGE2 receptors, make it a valuable tool for studying the differences between PGE2 and its metabolites.
Used in Obstetrics and Gynecology:
In the field of obstetrics and gynecology, 13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGE2 is used as a biochemical marker to monitor the progress of pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester. The increased levels of this metabolite in the plasma of pregnant women can provide insights into the physiological changes occurring during this period.
Used in Oncology:
13,14-Dihydro-15-keto PGE2 is used as a potential biomarker for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The decreased levels of this metabolite in tumor tissue compared to adjacent non-cancerous tissue can help in the diagnosis and prognosis of NSCLC. Further research may also explore its potential role in the development of targeted therapies for lung cancer.
Used in Drug Development:
13,14-Dihydro-15-keto PGE2 can be used in the development of drugs targeting the PGE2 metabolic pathway. Understanding the differences between PGE2 and its metabolites, such as 13,14-dihydro-15-keto PGE2, can lead to the design of more selective and effective drugs for various medical conditions.
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
13,14-Dihydro-15-keto PGE2 can be used as a reference compound in the development and validation of analytical methods for the quantification of PGE2 and its metabolites in biological samples. This can help in the accurate measurement of these compounds and their role in various physiological and pathological processes.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 363-23-5 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 3,6 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 363-23:
(5*3)+(4*6)+(3*3)+(2*2)+(1*3)=55
55 % 10 = 5
So 363-23-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
