3737-95-9 Usage
Description
Calconcarboxylic acid, also known as dark violet powder, is a chemical compound with unique properties that make it suitable for various applications, particularly in the field of analytical chemistry.
Uses
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
Calconcarboxylic acid is used as an indicator for calcium titrations with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in the presence of magnesium. Its dark violet color allows for easy detection and monitoring of the titration process, ensuring accurate results in the determination of calcium concentrations.
Purification Methods
Purify it via its p-toluidinium salt, viz: dissolve the dye in warm 20% aqueous MeOH, treat with an equivalent of p-toluidine and cool to precipitate the salt. Finally recrystallise the acid from hot water. [Itoh & Ueno Analyst (London) 95 583 1970.] It is an indicator and complexes with Ca2+ in presence of Mg2+ and other metal ions [Patton & Reeder Anal Chem 28 1026 1956, Prentoe & Prentoe Analyst 106 227 1981].
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3737-95-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,7,3 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3737-95:
(6*3)+(5*7)+(4*3)+(3*7)+(2*9)+(1*5)=109
109 % 10 = 9
So 3737-95-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
