Chemical Description

Taxinine is a natural product isolated from the yew tree and is used as a starting material for the synthesis of taxoids.

Description

TAXININE is an alkaloid found in Taxus canadensis, which is an amorphous solid without a definite melting point. It is insoluble in water, chloroform, or light petroleum and moderately soluble in ethanol, benzene, or diethyl ether. TAXININE can be converted into an amorphous hydrochloride with a melting point of 128°C, an amorphous sulfate with a melting point of 139°C, and a picrate that forms light yellow needles with a melting point of 250°C. It should not be confused with the nitrogen-free diterpenoid of the same name present in the leaves of Taxus baccata subsp. cuspidata and T. cuspidata Sieb, which is O-cinammoyltaxicin II triacetate, C35H42O9, with a melting point of 265-7°C.

Uses

1. Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
TAXININE is used as a pharmaceutical compound for its potential therapeutic applications. Its unique chemical properties and solubility characteristics make it a candidate for the development of new drugs and treatments.
2. Used in Chemical Research:
TAXININE is used as a subject of study in chemical research to better understand its properties, interactions with other compounds, and potential applications in various fields, including medicine and materials science.
3. Used in Taxonomy and Identification:
TAXININE can be used as a chemical marker for the identification and classification of Taxus species, helping to differentiate between closely related taxa and providing insights into their evolutionary relationships.
4. Used in Toxicology Studies:
Due to its presence in certain Taxus species, TAXININE may be used in toxicology studies to investigate its effects on biological systems and to assess the potential risks associated with exposure to these plants or their extracts.
5. Used in Drug Development:
TAXININE's unique chemical structure and properties may be exploited in the development of new drugs, particularly in the areas of cancer treatment or other therapeutic applications where its specific interactions with biological targets could be beneficial.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 3835-52-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,8,3 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3835-52:
(6*3)+(5*8)+(4*3)+(3*5)+(2*5)+(1*2)=97
97 % 10 = 7
So 3835-52-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
