Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 39884-52-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,9,8,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 39884-52:
(7*3)+(6*9)+(5*8)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*5)+(1*2)=171
171 % 10 = 1
So 39884-52-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

N-nitroso-1,3-oxazolidine, a carcinogenic compound detected as an impurity in a commercial cutting fluid
Ellen,Freudenthal,Schuller
, p. 357 - 359 (1982)
The title N-nitrosamine, a potent liver carcinogen, was detected in a mineral oil cutting fluid at concentrations up to 60 mg/kg. Identification was performed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and by synthesis. The compound is thought to have been formed from formaldehyde, sodium nitrite and an amino alcohol present in the cutting fluid.
