The synthesis of cis- and trans-β-tributylstannylacrylates from conjugate addition of tributylstannylcopper to various β-substituted acrylates is shown to be a highly stereospecific reaction.Of four tributylstannylmetal reagents examined for this conversion, optimum results were obtained with tributylstannylcopper.
