Soft-enolization Baker-Venkataraman Rearrangement Enabled Total Synthesis of Dirchromones and Related 2-Substituted Chromones

A seven-step total synthesis of the original scaffold of cytotoxic dirchromones involving an unprecedented soft-enolization Baker-Venkataraman rearrangement was designed.
