642-62-6 Usage

Description

ACID YELLOW 17 is a brilliant yellow dye that appears as a yellow powder. It is soluble in water, resulting in a greenish-yellow hue, and slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone. However, it is insoluble in other organic solvents. The dye exhibits various color changes when exposed to different chemicals, such as greenish-yellow in strong sulfuric acid, reddish-yellow in nitric acid, and almost colorless when mixed with sodium hydroxide solution. Its water solution also causes discoloration when combined with hydrochloric acid and bleaching with a carved white piece. The solution turns reddish-purple upon oxidation in the air. ACID YELLOW 17 has good discharge properties and imparts a slightly red and dark color and luster to dyed copper and iron ions.
