Description

1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide is an ionic liquid that is composed of a 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium cation and a tricyanomethanide anion. It exhibits unique properties such as low melting point, high thermal stability, and excellent solvation ability, making it a versatile compound for various applications.

Uses

Used in Chemical Separation Processes:
1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide is used as a solvent in the separation of hex-1-ene/hexane and cyclohexene/cyclohexane compounds. Its ability to selectively dissolve and separate these compounds makes it a valuable tool in the chemical industry for purification and separation processes. This ionic liquid can improve the efficiency and selectivity of separation techniques, leading to more effective and environmentally friendly chemical processes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 666823-18-3 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 6,6,6,8,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 666823-18:
(8*6)+(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*8)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*1)+(1*8)=193
193 % 10 = 3
So 666823-18-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Vaporization and formation enthalpies of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanides

Emel'Yanenko, Vladimir N.,Zaitsau, Dzmitry H.,Verevkin, Sergey P.,Heintz, Andreas,Voss, Karsten,Schulz, Axel

, p. 11712 - 11717 (2011)

Thermochemical studies of the ionic liquids 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide [C2MIM][C(CN)3] and 1-butyl-3- methylimidazolium tricyanomethanide [C4MIM][C(CN)3] have been performed in this work. Vaporization enthalpies have been obtained using a recently developed quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique. The molar enthalpies of formation of these ionic liquids in the liquid state were measured by means of combustion calorimetry. A combination of the results obtained from QCM and combustion calorimetry lead to values of gaseous molar enthalpies of formation of [CnMIM][C(CN)3]. First-principles calculations of the enthalpies of formation in the gaseous phase for the ionic liquids [CnMIM][C(CN)3] have been performed using the CBS-QB3 and G3MP2 theory and have been compared with the experimental data. Furthermore, experimental results of enthalpies of formation of imidazolium-based ionic liquids with the cation [CnMIM] (where n = 2 and 4) and anions [N(CN)2], [NO3], and [C(CN)3] available in the literature have been collected and checked for consistency using a group additivity procedure. It has been found that the enthalpies of formation of these ionic liquids roughly obey group additivity rules.
