6859-66-1 Usage
Description
Magnoline is a closely-related bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid found in Magnolia fuscata. It occurs mainly in the leaves and can be obtained in pure form as a microcrystalline powder from ethanol or benzene. Magnoline is sparingly soluble in most organic solvents but dissolves readily in aqueous alkalies. The alkaloid is laevorotatory with [α]D 9.6° (pyridine). It can be separated from magnolamine due to its insolubility in hot benzene.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Magnoline is used as a pharmaceutical compound for its potential therapeutic properties. Its structure makes it a close relative of dauricine, which has various pharmacological activities. The Ullmann reaction has been used to synthesize magnoline, which can be further modified through chemical reactions to explore its potential applications in drug development.
Used in Chemical Research:
Magnoline is used as a subject of chemical research to study its properties and reactions. It can be converted into various derivatives, such as the trimethyl ether, picrate, and picrolonate, through chemical reactions. These derivatives can provide insights into the structure-activity relationship of magnoline and its potential applications in different fields.
Used in Natural Product Extraction:
Magnoline is used in the extraction of natural products from Magnolia fuscata leaves. Its isolation from the plant material can be achieved through solvent extraction and purification techniques. The obtained magnoline can be further analyzed and studied for its potential applications in various industries.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 6859-66-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,8,5 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6859-66:
(6*6)+(5*8)+(4*5)+(3*9)+(2*6)+(1*6)=141
141 % 10 = 1
So 6859-66-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
