The reaction of 2-(2-benzoyl-1-phenyl-2-propen-1-yl)cyclohexanone with bis(trimethylsilyl) phosphonite proceeds through all three electrophilic centers of the 2-methylene 1,5-diketone and gives rise to a mixture of products, in particular, to hydrogenated chromenes and phosphinolines, whose formation is thermodynamically controlled.The addition of a reagent at the carbonyl carbon of the vinyl ketone group of 2-methylene-1,5-diketone was found for the first time.
