In the reaction of substituted 2-bromoacetophenones with o-(diphenylphosphino)phenol (benzoylmethyl)(o-hydroxyphenyl)diphenylphosphonium bromides were obtained, and by treatment with aqueous potassium hydroxide these are converted into the corresponding (benzoylmethylene)(o-hydroxyphenyl)diphenylphosphoranes.With Cu(II) and Zn(II) the latter form inner-complex compounds with the coordination of the metal through the oxygen atom of the hydroxy group and the ylide carbon atom.
