General Description

Tetrocarcin A is a complex natural product and potent antitumor antibiotic produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces sp. It is composed of a tetracyclic core structure with a highly functionalized tetrahydropyran ring, and has shown strong cytotoxic activity against a variety of cancer cell lines. Tetrocarcin A also exhibits selective inhibition of DNA topoisomerases, which are enzymes involved in DNA replication and transcription.
